61st Aviagen Production Management School Promotes Knowledge Sharing and Networking

AViagen® North America concluded its 61st annual Production Management School on June 27 in Huntsville, Alabama. The event gathered 35 students from 20 countries, focusing on best poultry management practices under the theme “Breeding Success Together.”

In-Depth Insight, “Train the Trainer” Approach Dr. Marc de Beer, President of Aviagen North America, emphasized the goal of providing valuable perspectives on effective management techniques to enhance broiler and breeder welfare, sustainability, and productivity. The program combines classroom theory with practical experience on farms, in diagnostics laboratories, and at feed mills.

Expansive Curriculum and Practical Experience Students visited Aviagen’s Production Development Center in Albertville, Egg Distribution Center and Vet Lab in Elkmont, and Feed Mill in Pikeville. The curriculum covered bird welfare, biosecurity, feed efficiency, vaccination and disease management, ventilation, leg and gut health, hatchery management, and water quality. Over 35 topics were discussed, featuring seminars, workshops, and hands-on field experiences led by Aviagen experts and guest lecturers.

Building Connections and Lifelong Networks Taylor Davis and Tanner Gallik, Digital and Event Marketing Specialists, organized team-building activities to foster connections among participants. Frequent testing enhanced retention, with top scorers recognized at the end of the course.
