Herbruck’s Poultry Ranch recently hosted Rep. Peter Meijer for a tour of the Saranac facility and discussion on the agriculture industry in Michigan.
Meijer and Ionia County officials toured the main Herbruck’s farm, as well as the Green Meadow Organics facility where Herbruck leadership discussed the 2-acre solar array, sustainability in the poultry industry and other top agricultural issues.
“As a fourth-generation family business with decades in the agriculture industry, we’re eager to share our knowledge with lawmakers to provide a better future for all,” said Greg Herbruck, president of Herbruck’s. “We’re grateful to have representation from Rep. Meijer, who took the time to visit our facilities and hear about the issues facing our industry today.”
Herbruck’s officials also discussed labor and unemployment insurance issues, the future of organics, immigration and international trade issues with Meijer as it relates to Michigan’s agricultural industry.
“Herbruck’s is one of the largest egg producers in the United States and is a major employer here in West Michigan,” Meijer said. “This was the first of many discussions I will have with Herbruck’s and others on the issues impacting Michigan agriculture. I look forward to continuing to work with local businesses to ensure their success here in the Third District.”
