Through our “FLOCK Cares” outreach initiative, House of Raeford Farms FLOCK in Duplin County, North Carolina continues to recognize those who demonstrate exceptional service to others.  Honorees for April were:

Olive Bryant – House of Raeford Rose Hill, NC Processing

House of Raeford Farms’ Rose Hill Processing location has employed Olive Bryant for 36 years.  Currently Bryant works in the thigh-packing department, but her skills have been at work in several other areas of the operation.  Amazingly, “Miss Olive” is 82 years old and drives herself to work daily, always arriving before other employees in her department including supervisors.  Her fellow associates were present to honor and applaud Bryant at the FLOCK Cares presentation.  Of course, the $400.00 gasoline gift certificate was a welcome reward to this dedicated and loyal woman.

Mike Delacerda – Operations Staking Technician – Four County Electric Membership Corporation

Mike Delacerda joined Four County EMC 27 years ago working as a lineman and always willing take on tasks that go beyond his normal responsibilities.  Most recently, he has served as an Operations Staking Technician responsible for coordinating electrical service needs for new and existing customers.  Wayne Rich, Operations Supervisor, described how Mike has also served his family, along with his wife Jenny, through some tough situations that fortunately have produced good results.  In addition, Delacerda is a firefighter with the Rose Hill Volunteer Fire Department, and is active in community fundraising events to help those in need.  A Louisiana native, Mike is certainly making a difference in the lives of others.

Ashley Lovette – ESL Teacher – Wallace Elementary School

Wallace Elementary has a wealth of caring and dedicated teachers on their staff.  Ashley Lovette is no exception.  This is how she expresses her mission in teaching:  “I desire to use my enthusiasm for teaching to lead children to an enthusiasm for learning. Through positive motivation, students will leave the classroom every day with a sense of accomplishment along with the knowledge that I love them and will do everything in my power to help them succeed.”  Principal Angelo Cavallaro describes Ms. Lovette as a “team player who is always willing to help out.  She is dedicated to her students, school, and community.”  Ashley also serves Wallace Elementary on the Curriculum Team and as Beginning Teacher Coordinator.

“Driven by love and compassion for others, FLOCK seeks to walk alongside the folks who are already doing great work in their communities and support them in their mission,” said Tom Teachey, FLOCK’s Duplin County Director of Outreach.

In addition, FLOCK also offered support for Beta Club 4th – 12th grade students from two Duplin County schools by presenting $2000.00 to each school to assist the children with travel expenses.  Wallace-Rose Hill High is sending their state champion Quiz Bowl team to the national convention in Nashville, Tennessee where they will also be competing as a Photography finalist.  Chinquapin Elementary has 27 students attending their nationals and competing in a variety of contests including Songfest, Group Talent, Visual Arts, Quiz Bowl, and Academics (Social Studies and Math) among other events.
