Salmonella is a significant food-borne illness that is hard to control in poultry production. Live vaccines, like AviPro® Megan® Vac 1 have been shown to significantly reduce the burden of Salmonella entering the processing facility. In this video, I discuss how a bird’s own innate immune system can be used as a mechanism to try to eliminate or reduce the amount of Salmonella carriage through the use of vaccines to help manage and mitigate Salmonella contamination in poultry production at the farm level.
