Employees of a Foster Farms facility in Fresno, Calif., were evacuated from the building Friday morning, and sent home for the day, due to a dangerous leak of carbon dioxide, according to local media reports.
The high-pressure leak was located at the back of the plant. There were no injuries, and the Fresno fire department said there was no threat to the public, either, the reports said.
In a statement, a spokesperson with Foster Farms reported said, “Early this afternoon, there was a Co2 leak at the Foster Farms Belgravia plant in Fresno. The company notified the fire department who assisted with the assessment and control of the CO2 leak. The plant was safely evacuated, and all employees were sent home.”
The plant was expected to resume operations on Saturday.
