Day-Lee Foods Inc., a food company based in Santa Fe Springs, California, has issued a recall for approximately 10,511 pounds of frozen ready-to-eat (RTE) chicken potsticker products. The recall was initiated due to misbranding and the presence of undisclosed allergens, as revealed in a release by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).

The affected product, initially labeled as chicken potstickers, may contain mandarin orange chicken, which contains allergens such as milk and eggs. These allergens were not properly declared on the product packaging, potentially posing a risk to consumers with allergies.

The frozen RTE chicken items in question were manufactured on December 14, 2022. Specifically, the recalled product is identified as 20-ounce box packages labeled as “RESTAURANT QUALITY AT HOME Crazy Cuizine Chicken POTSTICKERS ASIAN STYLE GYOZA DUMPLINGS WITH DIPPING SAUCE.” The packaging bears a “Use by” date of 12 14 2024.

The products subject to the recall can be identified by the establishment number “P-17309,” which is located within the USDA mark of inspection on the packaging. Distribution of the affected items was limited to retail outlets situated in California.

The issue prompting the recall came to light when Day-Lee Foods Inc. reported to the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) about a customer complaint. The complaint indicated that a purchased box of Chicken Potstickers actually contained mandarin orange chicken, which had not been properly disclosed on the packaging.

Thus far, there have been no reports of adverse reactions resulting from the consumption of these recalled products. However, due to the potential risk posed by the undeclared allergens, consumers who have purchased the specified product are advised to carefully review the packaging details. Individuals with milk and egg allergies, in particular, are encouraged to check if they have this product and, if so, to return it to the point of purchase or dispose of it in accordance with local guidelines.

Remaining informed about recalls and food safety notices is crucial to ensure the health and safety of consumers. Always be attentive to product labels and notifications from regulatory agencies to prevent any potential health risks associated with undeclared allergens or other issues.
