In a strategic move, Aviagen Group, based in Huntsville, Alabama, is contemplating a significant expansion in the Philippines. The aim is to optimize product distribution and bridge existing gaps within the current system.
The Asia Pacific business manager for Aviagen Group, Rafael Monleon, announced the company’s plans to establish its operations in the Philippines. This expansion is envisioned to not only enhance distribution but also to address the growing demand for high-quality grown stock in the vibrant Philippine poultry industry.
Speaking at a press conference held at the U.S. Embassy, Monleon expressed optimism about the Philippine poultry sector’s growth and the discernible demand for the specialized products offered by Aviagen. The company is renowned for its expertise in broiler breeding.
While Aviagen is in the early stages of assessing the feasibility of this expansion into the Philippine market, no specific timeline for the investment has been determined as yet, according to Monleon. The company is actively engaged in a comprehensive feasibility study to understand the dynamics and potential of the Philippine market.
Aviagen’s exploration of the Philippines aligns with its participation in recent trade missions in Manila, where it joins forces with 10 U.S. agriculture technology companies, including industry giants like Cargill Inc. and Archer Daniels Midland. The move reflects a strategic endeavor to strengthen ties and explore growth opportunities in the dynamic agricultural landscape of the Philippines.
