Last week, 238.801 million broiler type eggs were placed into incubation—an increase from the previous week but still 1% lower than the same period last year. Despite a slight decline in hatchability to 79.9%, the placements of broiler type chicks into meat production experienced a 2% decrease, totaling 183.896 million chicks. This suggests potential constraints on chicken supplies for consumers in the upcoming months, extending into early next year.
The USDA is set to release its updated annual poultry production projection on Friday, providing a comprehensive overview of the current state of the industry.
