U.S. Supreme Court Rejects Bid to Reinclude Rabobank in Poultry Price-Fixing Lawsuit

The U.S. Supreme Court has declined to hear a case seeking to reintegrate Rabobank into a lawsuit accusing the bank of aiding poultry producers in fixing prices. According to the docket, the class of chicken buyers’ petition was denied on Tuesday.

Last year, Illinois Federal Judge Thomas Durkin dismissed Rabobank from the extensive litigation, asserting that the bank’s actions, as reflected in the presented emails, were unilateral efforts to safeguard its interests. The court ruled that these emails failed to indicate any agreement, leading to a summary judgment favoring Rabobank.

In July, the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals upheld Judge Durkin’s decision, and in August, they rejected a rehearing of the case against Rabobank.

In mid-November, the plaintiffs submitted a petition to the U.S. Supreme Court, which has now been denied, cementing Rabobank’s exoneration in the case.
