The International Poultry Council’s Executive Committee has unveiled its leadership lineup for 2024, with Ricardo Santin, CEO of the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA), assuming the role of president, and Richard Griffiths, CEO of the British Poultry Council (BPC), elected as vice president.
Country members will be represented by Yu Lu (China Chamber of Commerce of Import & Export of Foodstuffs, Native Produce & Animal By-Products – CFNA), Gonzalo Moreno (Federación Nacional de Avicultores de Colombia – FENAVI), Birthe Steenberg (EU Association of Poultry Processors and Trade – AVEC), and Greg Tyler (USA Poultry & Egg Export Council – USAPEEC) during this term.
Representing associate members are Sheila Guebara (Seara), Tim Klompmaker (Chicken Farmers of Canada), Stig Munck Larsen (Danish Food & Agriculture Council), and Marilia Rangel Campos (MSD Animal Health). Outgoing and former presidents Robin Horel and Jim Sumner will continue to serve on the executive committee as appointed members for another two-year term.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the new role, Santin stated, “I am thrilled to take on this new challenge and grateful for the IPC Board of Directors’ trust.” He acknowledged the progress made under Robin Horel’s leadership and highlighted the organization’s efforts to engage international organizations and stakeholders.
Griffiths added, “The new IPC executive committee brings together a wealth of voices, expertise and backgrounds.” He emphasized their readiness to champion the poultry industry globally and support members in addressing global food security challenges.
Ricardo Santin is set to present the IPC vision and strategy at the IPC Annual Meeting in Buenos Aires, Argentina, scheduled for May 2024. The leadership transition signifies a commitment to shaping a robust future for the global poultry sector.
