Poultry Industry Council Announces New Executive Director

The Poultry Industry Council (PIC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Tom Lewis as its new Executive Director, effective February 26th, 2024.

Tom has worked extensively in the agriculture sector, with experience in program development and delivery, project management, communications, and public policy. He most recently served as Industry Relations/Editor of Ontario Sheep News for Ontario Sheep Farmers and prior to this he was the Minister’s Senior Policy Advisor Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.

“On behalf of the PIC Board, it is a privilege to welcome Tom to the PIC team,” said Caroline Gonano, Chair of PIC. “Tom’s experience with program development and delivery, notably his experience delivering extension services, will be integral to PIC’s vision of supporting a thriving, healthy and competitive, Ontario poultry industry. We look forward to working collaboratively together with industry and our members to deliver on our new strategic plan, with a focus on better learning technology and opportunities, and increased member engagement.”

PIC would like to thank Jenn MacTavish who served as interim Executive Director during the transition period.

PIC is a registered charity, based in Guelph, Ontario, with the mission to help poultry producers be more successful through the adoption of leading practices by facilitating relevant and practical translation of the latest research and information through effective education and extension services.
