The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) issued a public health alert on Feb. 27 concerning Nurture Life’s Chicken Parm with Super Veggie Spaghetti meal products. The alert was issued due to misbranding and the presence of an undeclared allergen.
The spaghetti component of the product contains egg white, a known allergen that was not disclosed on the product label. Nurture Life brought this to FSIS’s attention during an internal audit, prompting the alert.
Although no recall was requested as the product is no longer available for purchase, consumers should be aware of the potential risk. The chicken parm entrées were produced between Dec. 27, 2023, and Feb. 20, 2024, and are identifiable by their 5.9-oz. tray with sleeve label reading “nurture life KIDS MEALS CHICKEN PARM WITH SUPER VEGGIE SPAGHETTI” and “enjoy by” dates ranging from Jan. 9, 2024, to March 1, 2024.
It’s important to note that the product packaging lacks the USDA mark of inspection. These items were sold online and shipped directly to consumers nationwide.
While there have been no confirmed cases of adverse reactions, individuals who have purchased this product and are concerned about an allergic reaction should seek advice from a healthcare provider. Consumers are advised not to consume these products and should either dispose of them or return them to the place of purchase.
