Penn State Extension offers educational phone line for poultry and dairy information

378

For those with limited or no internet access, Penn State Extension poultry and dairy educators are offering an alternative educational method — timely production-related information via telephone.

By calling 888-655-2407, producers and hobbyists can listen to five-minute messages with tips on dairy or poultry production, the latest industry issues, and upcoming extension events.

Extension educators cover various topics, such as food safety, feed management, health and disease. The phone line also will include new and emerging animal-agriculture industry issues. The messages are updated weekly or every other week.

Three lines currently are active. Line one offers a dairy message, line two shares a poultry message and line three advertises upcoming events. New messages are posted on Mondays. If individuals have any topic requests for the dairy line, they can call Emily Fread at 570-556-4748. For poultry topic requests, call Torey Fischer at 717-363-9059.
