Aviagen and AAAP have common goal to help provide feed current and future
generations with nutritious and sustainable chicken meat
Aviagen® has announced its support for the 63rd annual American Association of Avian Pathologists (AAAP) meeting. Due to the current global pandemic, the event will be held online during July 30 – Aug. 6. The company is a Platinum sponsor of the event, and, in addition, three Aviagen veterinarians – Dr. Christina Lindsey, Dr. Keat Fu and Dr. Emma Castilla — will speak on topics intended to help poultry producers prevent and manage disease in breeder and broiler chickens, while strengthening health and welfare.
Two organizations – one mission
Aviagen is a longtime sponsor of the AAAP, and it shares with the organization a
commitment to promoting the success of the global poultry industry by training future
generations of professionals. Aviagen regularly donates to the AAAP Preceptor
Scholarship award that enables veterinary students from American Veterinary
Medicine Association (AVMA)-accredited colleges to pursue avian medicine as a
career.
Aviagen’s Vice President of Veterinary Services for North America, Dr. Eric Jensen,
is a long-time and active member of the AAAP, serving on the Board of Directors and
as AAAP President for the 2019-20 term. At the 2020 meeting, he will pass the
scepter to another member, continuing to serve as Past President.
“Aviagen and the AAAP share a mission to leverage scientific knowledge to promote
the health, welfare, and productivity of poultry, and, in doing so, provide a healthy
and sustainable source of nutrition for the world’s people,” remarked Dr. Jensen.
