Cooper Farms is adding 39 new turkey barns for an additional volume of 500,000 birds per year, the company said in a news release.
The boost in the Oakwood, Ohio-based processor’s turkey division is part of a larger company expansion.
“We are always strategically thinking about where our company can grow and how we can be a better supplier for our customers,” Cooper Farms COO Gary Cooper said.
Seven existing family growers have chosen to grow their farms and seven new families have chosen to join the ranks for the turkey expansion, Cooper Farms officials said.
The construction of the 39 barns is projected to be completed by Jan. 1, 2024.
