Shell Egg Academy Opens Registration for both its Virtual and In-Person Education Events in 2024

Registration is now open for the 2024 Shell Egg Academy (SEA).

Interested participants can sign up for either the Virtual Edition or the In-Person Edition (or both!), depending on your needs.

About Virtual SEA – April 29-May 3, 2024

Virtual SEA will be held April 24-28, 2023 and provide interactive class sessions on egg quality and food safety for farmers and egg companies producing and processing table eggs. Sessions will be held live on Zoom and be offered in both English and Spanish translation. The sessions will also be recorded for access for six months after the live version ends.

Virtual SEA provides online learning from experts around the U.S. with the focus on egg quality information and an interactive experience that is useful for employees who work in egg barns and processing plants – consider this an “Eggs 101” educational approach with the ease of joining from your computers.

Virtual SEA is divided into two courses:

  • Live Hen Production (12:00-2:30 pm Eastern time on April 24-26)
  • Egg Processing and Food Safety (12:00-2:30 pm Eastern time April 26-28)

Participants may select either course or both courses. Each day’s session will run for approximately 2.5 hours so employees are still available for their work the rest of the day.

Registration options include:

  • Individual ($900 per course for 1 person) – Allows one person to attend the Virtual SEA.
  • Company ($3,000 flat fee per course) – Allows one company to register an unlimited number of participants from their company to participate in the Virtual SEA.
  • Academic Rate ($250 per course for 1 person) – Must be a faculty member of a college or university to qualify for this rate.
  • Student Rate (Complimentary per course) – Must be a current Poultry Science Association student member and also an undergraduate or graduate student of a college or university to qualify.

All participants will receive access to all content in both English and Spanish for 6 months after the live class is complete with the option to renew the content. (Participants do not have to participate in the live version of Virtual SEA if the schedule doesn’t work for you; simply log-in to the recorded version once that’s available later in May.)

Along with expert lecturers from both academia and the egg industry, virtual SEA will also engage participants through a SEA Experience Box. The box will involve materials needed for hands-on activities over the courses. All participants will need access to shell eggs during the courses.

All participants will receive the SEA Experience Box with course materials prior to the start of the academy as long as you register by April 1. Digital access will include speaker outlines and slide decks. (Printed Proceedings in both English and Spanish are available for an extra fee during the registration process.)
