Tanmiah Food Co. and Tyson Foods Inc., Springdale, Ark., have partnered to invest in expanding the poultry capacity of Supreme Foods Processing Co. (SFPC), a subsidiary of Tanmiah, to facilitate the company to increase its capacity of chicken production by 100,000 tonnes per year and its daily processing capacity to over 1 million birds as part of a deal that was signed in July 2022.
Tanmiah officials said the deal will provide the company with the opportunity to expand its distribution by utilizing Tyson’s established technology and expertise in the global poultry processing sector. The partnership also included verbiage indicating the possibility of creating a global halal business.
SFPC produces value-added and cooked meats in three plants, including two in Saudi Arabia and another in the United Arab Emirates. The company’s distribution extends to customers in the hospitality industry and quick-service restaurants located across the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, UAE, Oman, Lebanon and Jordan.
“We are excited about this partnership that should help us expand our customer base in the Middle East,” said Tan Sun, president of Tyson Foods Asia Pacific. “The partnership enables Tanmiah and Tyson Foods to work towards a common goal of efficient and sustainable food production for the region and beyond.”
Zulfiqar Hamadani, chief executive officer of Tanmiah, added, “We are delighted to be joining forces with a global leader in food production, which will bolster our ambitious regional and global expansion plans. This collaboration is very significant for the poultry market in Saudi Arabia as it supports domestic self-sufficiency in line with Vision 2030 of the Kingdom.”
