Update on HPAI From NCDA State Veterinarians

572

Youth Flock Owners:  Please read the latest update from the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services released on March 14, 2022.

HPAI has been confirmed in 17 commercial poultry farms in 7 states (IN, KY, DE, MO, MD, IA, and SD) and in 10 backyard flocks in 7 states (VA, NY, ME, MI, IA, CT, and MO).

Although HPAI has not been confirmed in NC poultry flocks, over 100 wild birds have tested positive for HPAI in NC. Please continue to do your part to help prevent the spread of HPAI. Our state veterinarians ask that flock owners 1) keep birds cooped up, 2) Practice Heightened Biosecurity, and 3) Monitor flocks for signs of AI & Report Concerns.

Do your part to keep all flocks safe!
