The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued a recall for more than a thousand pounds of ready-to-eat chicken produced by Wayne Farms LLC, citing concerns that the products may be undercooked. The recall comes after a purchaser notified the company about the potential issue.
The recalled product is identified as 9lb cardboard boxes containing 12 packs of three “CHEF’S LINE FIRE GRILLED CHICKEN BREAST.” Two distinct lot codes, 3723289239002 and 3723289239003, are associated with the affected batches, and the recommended use-by date is January 14, 2024.
According to the FSIS, the recalled chicken was distributed to locations in Illinois with plans for further distribution to various food service establishments. Given the possibility that some of the product might be in institutional or restaurant refrigerators or freezers, the FSIS advises against serving it. Restaurants are urged to either discard the product or return it to the point of purchase.
