The World Poultry Foundation (WPF) has unveiled a comprehensive, free training module aimed at assisting small-scale poultry farmers in constructing affordable and effective chicken shelters. This initiative is part of WPF’s broader effort to enhance poultry farming techniques and boost incomes across Africa.

The training materials, accessible in multiple languages, include a variety of formats such as videos, infographics, and flip charts. These resources are designed for use by training and development organizations to maximize their reach and impact.

The module offers detailed guidance on when and how to properly house chickens, featuring cost-effective solutions for constructing safe and hygienic poultry shelters. It also provides crucial information on maintaining clean and comfortable living conditions for the birds.

Maureen Stickel, Director of International Program Development at the World Poultry Foundation, emphasized the significance of these resources: “These training materials are crafted to empower small-scale poultry farmers by enhancing the productivity of their chickens, which in turn improves the nutritional status of their families and communities. The release of this series underscores our dedication to fostering inclusive and sustainable poultry value chains that benefit both farmers and consumers alike.”

Through this initiative, the WPF continues to support and promote better farming practices, aiming to create lasting positive impacts on the livelihoods of small-scale poultry farmers throughout Africa.
